A Three County, Two State Crime Spree

Wabasha County Sheriff’s Department

A Rochester man is expected to face a long list of criminal charges in connection with a crime spree that covered three area counties and two states. It began about 10:30 yesterday morning when a man crashed a vehicle near Oronoco.  Manuell Ramirez is then suspected of stealing a vehicle and crashing that one in the median of Highway 52 in Oronoco. He then allegedly stole another vehicle and a short while later crashed that one in the Elk Run area near Pine Island. Officials say Ramirez ran off on foot into Wabasha County where he stole a third vehicle, which drove to Nelson, Wisconsin where it ran out of gas. He then allegedly stole yet another vehicle and drove back into Minnesota where he ran out of gas again in Goodhue County. That’s where the 30 year old was finally apprehended around 5:45 p.m.
