Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester police caught a suspected burglar Thursday morning, thanks in part to an alarm company.

The company contacted police around 2:15 a.m. after the man was detected by a security camera inside the Fairfield Inn and Suites building that’s being constructed north of the Miracle Mile Shopping Center.  Officers apprehended the man without incident and found he had some burglar tools with him.

The man - identified as 23 year old Brandon Atkinson - told officers he was looking for scrap metal but he was arrested on burglary, trespassing and other charges.

Police have been on the lookout for suspects after a rash of commercial burglaries since the beginning of the year. It’s not known if Atkinson was involved in any of those.
