According to the Rochester Salvation Army's Rebecca Snap, the Red Kettle Campaign is $50,000 behind where they usually are this close to Christmas. And she says the most important thing the community can do to help is registering to ring bells.

Sure, they need money, but when a kettle has a person ringing bells, the donations go way up, so please, get your office together and ring for a day. Two at a time, for 3 hours can make a huge difference. OR, stagger 'em as we did here at Townsquare Media - Rochester. One person from 10 - Noon. Another person from 10:30 to 12:30, another person comes in at 11. That way no one's ringing too long, and there's always someone there. PLUS, your employees have more fun.

The main thing is the Rochester Salvation Army needs your help big time. Right now. Please, register to ring.

Plus, all the money stays here to help with local Salvation Army programs...

  • Meal Programs and Food Shelves
  • Rent Assistance
  • Utility Assistance
  • Employment Assistance
  • Clothing and Household Items
  • Transportation Assistance
  • Medical Assistance
  • Seasonal Services
  • Veteran’s Assistance
  • Pathway of Hope for Families

It is SO easy. See that picture there to the left? Click it. Then on the left side of the Salvation Army page, just tell 'em what date, and where you'd like to ring.

Simple. In, out, no mussin' about.

What about music? Great! Christmas music on a boom-box, singing, a guitar, a harmonica...bring 'em and remember, little kids are super sweet and really get people to donate. No pets tho, please.
