‘American Idol': Wondering Which Country Standouts Moved Forward?
American Idol 2018 Hollywood Week began Monday night (Mar. 26) on ABC at 8 pm ET. And it's a brutal time, indeed, with 169 contestants cut down to a mere 50. This period is nicknamed "Hell Week," and with good reason. So which of your favorite country standouts managed to make the cut this week? Here's our cheat sheet rundown on who made it, and who went home.
The charming 16-year-old Layla Spring from Lebanon, TX, who performed "Who’s Loving You" by the Jackson 5 with an adorable special guest—her 7-year-old little sis, Dyxie, charmed this evening with a performance of the retro "Last Kiss," made most recently famous by Pearl Jam. She made the cut.
Fans of mellow-vibed, 17-year-old Laine Hardy, a born-on-the-bayou southerner from Livingston, La., who wowed with a Band of Heathens cover (and a calm appreciation of alligators) will be pleased to know he got the green light.
Contestant Benjamin Glaze, didn't exactly like it when Katy Perry planted a kiss on him; but Perry's other crush, Trevor Holmes, who brought it with a Brett Young cover, managed to move on to the next round.
Korean country hopeful Daniel Ethridge, who brought a bit of welcome diversity to the genre, unfortunately was eliminated and will be going home.
"Daddy's girl" Gabby Barnett is safe, and she'll be advancing.
American Idol airs Sundays and Monday at 8PM ET/PT, and we'll be keeping an eye on all the as standout performances.
