Nothing says a warm, merry Christmas Eve like a beautiful fire roaring in the fireplace. But what if where you're living doesn't have a fireplace? No problem-- here's the always-popular video of the Yule Log, broadcast originally on a New York's WPIX-TV on Christmas Eve back in 1966-- a program that went on to set record ratings (believe it or not) and has been a holiday staple ever since.

According to WPIX, the original footage of the fire in the fireplace was filmed almost 50 years ago at Gracie Manor, the official residence of the governor of the state of New York. In a story about the original Yule Log program, WPIX says, "It debuted as a 3-hour program originally consisting of a 17-second 16 millimeter filmed loop of a festively decorated roaring fireplace while traditional Christmas carols served as its soundtrack. The Yule Log premiered in full-color on Saturday, December 24, 1966, at 9:30 PM."

While this isn't the original footage, here's an updated version of a lovely fire-- just in time for Christmas Eve at your house. Now did anybody bring some some corn for popping?
