We've had our share of Guinness World Records over the years here in Minnesota, from the world's largest cheeseburger, set in 2012 at Black Bear Casino, to the world's largest ball of twine, which held the world record from 1979 to 1994 in Darwin. But now we have another Guinness World Record to call our own here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes: Largest Paper Ball!

The ball of paper, constructed in August by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency for display at last summer's state fair, weighs in at a whopping 426 pounds. It was designed to illustrate how much paper us Minnesotans throw away in 30 seconds-- paper that could be recycled. Officials at the MPCA sent the measurements to the folks at Guinness World Records, and word came down earlier this week that made the new record official. Check out the story here...
