Besides the peppermint mocha coffee creamer and candy-cane martinis, it looks like I've found yet another couple of seasonal peppermint addictions.

Yes, when it comes to pretty much anything peppermint, I'm a big fan. In fact, I posted about my, uh, 'problem,' with peppermint mocha creamer earlier this fall. So, following that theme of me loving pretty much anything pepperminty (if that's even a word), this holiday season, the gang at Oreos and Ho-Ho's have offered up a version of their products, all decked out for the season with peppermint filling.

And, not surprisingly, I think they're both pretty good. The peppermint flavor in both is noticeable, but not overwhelming. And the peppermint filling in both tastes pretty authentic, and not overly artificial, as some holiday products (think pumpkin spice) do.

Now, while the Peppermint Oreos have apparently been around for awhile-- this review of them was posted back in 2011, although the package does have a slightly different look to it now-- the Peppermint Ho-Ho's are making their debut this 2015 holiday season.  Which is quite a relief, given that Hostess, the parent company that makes Ho-Ho's, along with Ding Dongs and Twinkies, filed for bankruptcy back in 2012. (Thankfully, that classic brand was revived with new ownership back in 2013.)

Overall, they're both winners in my book. The problem I have, though, is limiting myself to just having a few during the holidays-- a time when so many other great-tasting treats are already available. My waistline doesn't need the help expanding this time of year! Maybe I ought to stockpile a few boxes and bring them out sometime during our long, bleak Minnesota winter in February. Of course, then they wouldn't be special, wouldn't they? I'd better have a few more and enjoy them while they're hear...
