If you were looking to wet your whistle (and who isn't?!?) after work, you now have one less choice, as another Rochester bar has closed its doors for good.

According to THIS Post-Bulletin article, Boomer's Lounge, located on 40th Avenue in northwest Rochester, closed for good Monday night, after 12 years of serving up drinks and hosting live music.

The story went on to say that it's "unclear why the decision was made to shut it down. Calls to the bar and to Brad Button, the bar's owner, were not answered."

In the five years we've lived in northwest Rochester, we stopped at Boomer's a couple of times. It's location on 40th Avenue, while only a few miles from our house, did make it a bit of a puzzle to figure just how to get there-- I usually caught a glimpse of it while I was driving along 41st Street.

But, of course, there wasn't any way to get there from 41st; you had to access 40th Avenue from Valleyhigh Drive.

Either way, I'm always sad to see another bar and restaurant close. The story said the building is currently for sale or lease, but didn't say if another business would be opening in the same space.
