As part of Taste of Country's RISERS series, Aubrie Sellers covered the song "My Babe." Readers can press play above to watch.

"My Babe," originally released in 1955, was written by Willie Dixon for blues singer Little Walter. As soon as Sellers' cover starts -- with one heck of a fuzzy guitar lick -- it's clear that she'll bring her own unique country grunge sound to the blues tune. Dressed in all black, from her T-shirt and jeans to her choker and nail polish, Sellers sings into a standing mic, but occasionally steps away from the microphone stand to wander a bit as her accompanying musicians break it down.

The daughter of Lee Ann Womack and Jason Sellers, Aubrie Sellers admits that she’s more introverted than her music and onstage presence would have listeners believe; fortunately, she’s found great role models.

“I think it’s important to have those people in your life who are successful, who’ve done this already,” Sellers notes, “and to kind of remember at the end of the day that the most important thing is to make sure you’re being true to who you are musically.”

Sellers released her debut album, New City Blues, in January of 2016, as an independent artist, because she wanted complete creative control over the project. After signing with Warner Music Nashville in July of 2016, the record was re-released in late September; she later released “Liar Liar” as the disc’s second single.

New City Blues is available for download on iTunes.
