Curt St. John

Hey, it's Curt St. John here, and I'm excited to join the Quick Country 96.5 staff! Growing up, being on the radio is all I ever dreamed of doing. And, after a stint that required me to wear a bear suit to be the mascot for an AM station that aired Chicago Cubs games in my hometown of Wausau, Wisconsin, I finally DID end up on the radio, working weekends and overnights while I earned a BA from UW-Eau Claire. I next worked several radio jobs in Eau Claire, including hosting a morning show for about 15 years. (That's a lot of getting up at 3:20 am!) After I met my beautiful wife, we got married (in Jamaica) and moved here to Rochester, where my wife was already working, in April of 2012. In my spare time, I like to get out on the mountain bike, catch ‘House Hunters’ on TV and work on our next batch of home-brewed beer. And, now that I'm here in Minnesota, I'm an avid Twins and Wild fan-- although I do confess to still rooting for certain MLB, NFL, and Big 10 teams that hail from a state just east of here. I'm excited to keep you company in the afternoon and play the most continuous country on your way home!

My Favorite Little Big Town Song

I'm really looking forward to seeing Little Big Town tonight at Mayo Civic Center! I've seen them a couple times already and they always put on a GREAT show. I first saw them around 8 years ago in La Crosse, when their first album was out and they were opening for John Mellencamp. I've liked them ever since. And, while I like all their songs, this one has always been my favorite...

Even Justin Timberlake Is A Garth Brooks Fan

It's no shock that Garth Brooks sold out a record 11-shows here in Minneapolis last month; he's an incredibly talented performer who really knows how to put on a great show. And just about everybody agrees. Even pop star Justin Timberlake, who last week posted a picture of himself backstage with Garth, calling Garth his idol. He then did a version of Garth's "Friends In Low Places" at HIS show in St. Louis-- and everybody knew the words!

Why Is The Refrigerator Door Always Open? The Dog Did It!

Our dog, Chance, along with one of our cats, Finn, have been teaming up to knock food off our kitchen counter-- that's Finn's part-- which Chance then eats. We first discovered their little trick last week. But at least Chance and Finn aren't not quite as advanced as THIS dog is-- who somehow figured out how to open the door to the refrigerator...

Then One Foggy…Early Wednesday Morning

I've been filling in for Alan Reed all week on the Quick Country Morning Show. And while I've been trying not to screw things up too much, this also means I'm in my car, navigating the streets at around 4am, on my way to the Townsquare Media communications complex in downtown Rochester. While it might be early, it's a peaceful time to be driving-- mainly because you have the roads all to yourself!

So I Guess This Means The Buffet Is Closed?

I was taking my dog, Chance, to his weekly obedience class Monday when I noticed a crew out demolishing the former Cuisine of India restaurant at the corner of Highway-14 and South Broadway in southeast Rochester.  It kind of took me by surprise, because when we arrived for the class, everything was normal. But when we left, the restaurant was reduced to a pile of rubble.

[video] Why You Want To Be Careful On Your Motorcycle!

I used to own a motorcycle, and loved getting out on the open road. I never really liked riding on a busy interstate with a lot of other traffic-- mainly because, on a cycle, you're never sure if the other cars see you; often times they don't. When I did take the a busy interstate, I sure didn't "split lanes" like this guy does-- and check out why!
