Curt St. John

Hey, it's Curt St. John here, and I'm excited to join the Quick Country 96.5 staff! Growing up, being on the radio is all I ever dreamed of doing. And, after a stint that required me to wear a bear suit to be the mascot for an AM station that aired Chicago Cubs games in my hometown of Wausau, Wisconsin, I finally DID end up on the radio, working weekends and overnights while I earned a BA from UW-Eau Claire. I next worked several radio jobs in Eau Claire, including hosting a morning show for about 15 years. (That's a lot of getting up at 3:20 am!) After I met my beautiful wife, we got married (in Jamaica) and moved here to Rochester, where my wife was already working, in April of 2012. In my spare time, I like to get out on the mountain bike, catch ‘House Hunters’ on TV and work on our next batch of home-brewed beer. And, now that I'm here in Minnesota, I'm an avid Twins and Wild fan-- although I do confess to still rooting for certain MLB, NFL, and Big 10 teams that hail from a state just east of here. I'm excited to keep you company in the afternoon and play the most continuous country on your way home!

How Have Hair And Makeup Changed In The Last 100 Years? Find Out– In :60 Seconds

I was scouring my archives to find a suitable picture of me in the '80's for Throw Back Thursday today. Fortunately (for me, that is), I couldn't find one. But it is amazing how much hairstyles have changed since my senior year in high school-- and that was "only" 26 years ago. But how much have hair and makeup changed in the last 100 years?

Guy Pranks His Wife By Accidentally Dropping Their Son Off Balcony

I love a good prank, and used to pull a fair share of them myself. There was the time 20 years ago when I pranked my best friend with a fake fax saying he'd been accepted into the Wisconsin Bar Association. He got me back, of course, by having an attorney call me and say the WBA wanted to sue ME for misrepresentation. I don't pull too many these days, though, because they oftentimes seem a little cruel. Like with this prank.

Guy Goes For A Bike Ride In The Woods With His Go Pro, Gets Chased By What?!?

I love getting out on my mountain bike during our spring, summer and fall seasons here in southeastern Minnesota. I usually just hit our local trails in Rochester, like the Cascade Lake, Zumbro South Trails, or the Douglas State Trail. I have, though, taken a few "rustic" trails through some remote areas, like a few at Lake Wissota State Park back when I lived in Wisconsin. Thankfully, I never ran into what THIS guy did when he was out riding in the woods with his GoPro...

My Dog and Cat Are Teaming up to Steal Our Food

If you have pets like ours, you know how much they like their food-- and everybody else's food, too.  It wasn't bad enough that Chance, our Beagle-mix, has already downed an entire box of crackers, a wedge of bleu cheese, plus a candy dish full of Hersey's Kisses; now, he's getting help from our cat, Finn, who apparently knocks food off the kitchen counter overnight, which Chance then gets to devour.

Chance’s Weekly Pigskin Picks: Vikings vs Panthers

My dog, Chance, got back on the winning side with last week's prediction that the Packers would top the Vikings at home. Although it was close, as we know, the Packers ran out the clock and left Minnesota with a victory-- and so did Chance. His record now stands at 5 correct predictions and 4 misses. So who does he think is going to win when the Panthers head to TCF Bank Stadium to take on the Vikings on Sunday?

Top 10 Excuses For Missing Thanksgiving Dinner With Your Family

My wife and I will be hitting Highway-52 tomorrow to travel up to the Cities to be with our family for Thanksgiving dinner. And, of course, we're not alone. The week of Thanksgiving is one of the busiest weeks when it comes to people travelling across the highways and byways of our great country to be with relatives they haven't seen in forever and get together for a big meal. But what if you don't really WANT to be with your relatives this Thanksgiving?
