Curt St. John

Hey, it's Curt St. John here, and I'm excited to join the Quick Country 96.5 staff! Growing up, being on the radio is all I ever dreamed of doing. And, after a stint that required me to wear a bear suit to be the mascot for an AM station that aired Chicago Cubs games in my hometown of Wausau, Wisconsin, I finally DID end up on the radio, working weekends and overnights while I earned a BA from UW-Eau Claire. I next worked several radio jobs in Eau Claire, including hosting a morning show for about 15 years. (That's a lot of getting up at 3:20 am!) After I met my beautiful wife, we got married (in Jamaica) and moved here to Rochester, where my wife was already working, in April of 2012. In my spare time, I like to get out on the mountain bike, catch ‘House Hunters’ on TV and work on our next batch of home-brewed beer. And, now that I'm here in Minnesota, I'm an avid Twins and Wild fan-- although I do confess to still rooting for certain MLB, NFL, and Big 10 teams that hail from a state just east of here. I'm excited to keep you company in the afternoon and play the most continuous country on your way home!

You’ve Never Seen A Slip-And-Slide Like This! [Video]

Ahh, summer in Minnesota -- where, once the heat and humidity gets here, the kids will no doubt want you to take them to Soldier's Field or Silver Lake Pool, or maybe Foster Arend Beach. Or maybe just set up the Slip And Slide in the backyard. But I'm guessing you probably haven't set up a Slip And Slide like this before -- where you end up sliding off the edge of a 50-foot cliff!

Minnesota Man Arrested…Because He Logged Into Facebook?

They don't get much dumber than THIS guy -- and we're lucky enough to call him a fellow Minnesotan. It seems that while this guy was busy burglarizing a house in South St. Paul earlier this week, he decided to change out of his wet clothes (which he left behind). Oh, and he figured while he was there he might as well check his Facebook page on the computer in the office of the home he was burglarizing.  Get where this is going?

Was That A Giant Clam Shell Floating Down The Mississippi River?

All the rain Minnesota has received in the last few weeks has caused many rivers in parts of the state to overflow their banks and flood surrounding areas. The lift bridge in Stillwater is closed due to high water on the St. Croix River. Even the mighty Mississippi in St. Paul is running high, and has created some unique pictures. But did KSTP-TV's cameras really catch a giant clam shell floating down the river this morning?

Flight Attendant’s Funny Pre-Flight Speech

About a week ago, my wife and I flew out to Arizona for a few days to explore the Sedona area and the Grand Canyon.  While both our flight there and back were fine -- despite flying into the Twin Cities during the storm that hit Minnesota last Monday night -- I can't say our flight attendants gave a pre-flight speech as amusing as this guy did

[video]: The Duke Boys Are Back — After 35 Years!

If you grew up in the 70's and 80's, like I did, you most likely watched The Dukes of Hazard. Well, if you've ever wondered what happened to Bo and Luke Duke and their classic car, you'll be glad to know they're back-- in this video for Auto Trader. The police cars chasing them may be faster, and they don't show the top of the Duke boys' car (or refer to it as 'the General Lee') but Bo and Luke appear to have aged pretty well in the last 35 years! Take a look...

Soldier Welcomed Home By His Pet…Cat!

I love seeing those videos of dogs going nuts with happiness when their soldier returns home after a long deployment bravely serving our country overseas. They just can't contain their excitement over having their person back home; it's infectious and always puts a smile on my face. Well, here's a CAT who's just as excited to see HIS soldier back home...

What’s That Smell?!? Dead Critter In My SUV Air Vent!

A day or so ago, my wife and I noticed a foul smell in our garage. We thought it was the trash (seeing as it WAS garbage pick-up day), that is, until I got in my car. Hoo, boy! The smell was definitely coming from the SUV. And it wasn't pleasant -- it had that distinct 'dead animal' smell to it -- and seemed to be coming from a/c vents. But what was causing it?
