Curt St. John

Hey, it's Curt St. John here, and I'm excited to join the Quick Country 96.5 staff! Growing up, being on the radio is all I ever dreamed of doing. And, after a stint that required me to wear a bear suit to be the mascot for an AM station that aired Chicago Cubs games in my hometown of Wausau, Wisconsin, I finally DID end up on the radio, working weekends and overnights while I earned a BA from UW-Eau Claire. I next worked several radio jobs in Eau Claire, including hosting a morning show for about 15 years. (That's a lot of getting up at 3:20 am!) After I met my beautiful wife, we got married (in Jamaica) and moved here to Rochester, where my wife was already working, in April of 2012. In my spare time, I like to get out on the mountain bike, catch ‘House Hunters’ on TV and work on our next batch of home-brewed beer. And, now that I'm here in Minnesota, I'm an avid Twins and Wild fan-- although I do confess to still rooting for certain MLB, NFL, and Big 10 teams that hail from a state just east of here. I'm excited to keep you company in the afternoon and play the most continuous country on your way home!

Soldier Welcomed Home By His Pet…Cat!

I love seeing those videos of dogs going nuts with happiness when their soldier returns home after a long deployment bravely serving our country overseas. They just can't contain their excitement over having their person back home; it's infectious and always puts a smile on my face. Well, here's a CAT who's just as excited to see HIS soldier back home...

What’s That Smell?!? Dead Critter In My SUV Air Vent!

A day or so ago, my wife and I noticed a foul smell in our garage. We thought it was the trash (seeing as it WAS garbage pick-up day), that is, until I got in my car. Hoo, boy! The smell was definitely coming from the SUV. And it wasn't pleasant -- it had that distinct 'dead animal' smell to it -- and seemed to be coming from a/c vents. But what was causing it?

Sunbathing Woman Causes Car Crash?

This story took place in Vienna, where nude sunbathing might be more common than here in Rochester. (And it obviously didn't take place here in southeastern Minnesota -- where it's been raining since, oh, last Saturday.) But I'm guessing the reaction to a woman who decided to soak up some rays -- while in her birthday suit -- might be similar no matter where it happened. Turns out, it was so distracting, it actually caused a car crash.

Watch: ‘Buddy’ Greets Man After Work– But He’s No Ordinary Pet!

If you have pets, you know how they're usually glad to see you when you come home. Both our beagle, Chance, and our cats Bailey and Bagsy are usually happy to see us when my wife or I walk in the door. Well, this guy's pet is no different. In fact, he acts just like a dog-- except Buddy isn't exactly your typical golden retriever...

20 Years Ago Tonight: OJ & The Bronco Chase

It's hard to believe, but 20 years ago tonight, the world was riveted to our TV's (most of us didn't yet have cellphones, and if you did have one, you couldn't watch any video feeds on it...) as we watched a parade of police vehicles slowly chase a white Ford Bronco down an LA freeway. O.J. Simpson was sitting in the backseat, allegedly with a gun to his head. Al “A.C.” Cowlings, Simpson’s friend and former teammate in high school, college and the N.F.L., was behind the wheel.

World Cup Soccer MVP To Watch: Purin, The Super Beagle!

The FIFA World Cup Soccer tournament kicks off Thursday from Brazil. Now, I'm certainly not a big soccer fan, but I do remember the 2010 World Cup Tournament from South Africa. Remember how you'd hear those buzzing vuvuvela's in the background? That was the 2010 World Cup. I can't tell you which country won, however.  And while I don't know who's favored in this year's tournament, I DO know who the MVP should be: Purin, the Super Beagle!
