Bad Apple Death of Rochester Woman Leads to Lawsuit
St Paul (KROC AM News) - The family of a Rochester woman who died after eating a bad apple is seeking damages from the companies involved in the case.
According to the St Paul Pioneer Press, a lawsuit has been filed in Ramsey County Court by Rochelle Kozera.
Her mother Beatrice Stewart died in 2014 just days after buying a caramel apple at a Kwik Trip store. It was later determined the 83-year-old died from listeria monocytogenes sepsis.
A federal investigation traced the source of the outbreak to a California apple grower. That company, Kwik Trip and three other firms involved in the processing, distribution and sale of the tainted apple are named in the lawsuit.
