BCA Completes Investigation into Jamar Clark Shooting
Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) -- The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has completed its investigation into a fatal police-involved shooting in Minneapolis last November that sparked numerous protests by the group Black Lives Matter.
A statement issued Wednesday by Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman says the findings of the investigation have been submitted to his office for review. Although it is difficult to predict how long the review will take, Freeman indicated he would like to have a decision on whether charges would be filed in the case by the end of March.
24-year-old Jamar Clark was killed on November 15th after officers responded to a report of a domestic assault and got into a struggle with Clark, who was fatally shot during the altercation.
On Tuesday, the ACLU and NAACP announced the filing of a lawsuit aimed at forcing authorities to release any video recordings of the incident. The BCA has said some recordings exist, but they would not be released until the investigation is completed and has stated the investigation remains open while the report is under review.
