When you're a Wisconsin native like me, you've heard that old line about beer being the 'breakfast of champions' forever. But now, thanks to a partnership between two Minnesota companies, that old line might actually be coming true.

Yes, Minnesota-based General Mills says its iconic Wheaties cereal is teaming up with another Minnesota company, Minneapolis-based Fulton Brewery, to create a limited-edition Hefeweizen beer called HefeWheaties.

On its blog, Taste of General Mills, the company explains that while Wheaties cereal won't be in the actual beer, they do share something in common: wheat. According to the blog, "Hefeweizen is a south German style of wheat beer, typically brewed with over 50 percent malted wheat, making it a natural fit for Wheaties."  And, while "Wheaties is not actually in the beer, there is wheat. And that connection helped both brands try something interesting."

The blog goes on to say that the idea for the partnership came about thanks to a few connections between the teams at General Mills and Fulton Brewery. The new beer is set to make its debut later this month.

Want to try some beer inspired by the Breakfast of Champions? Here's where you can get your hands on some HefeWheaties: The blog says, "For a limited time, beginning August 26, it will be available in the Twin Cities market in a 16 oz. tallboy can. 4-packs will be sold at limited retailers in the area, while quantities last. HefeWheaties will not be available for shipment or purchase outside of Minnesota. Also, the Fulton taproom in Minneapolis will host several events featuring HefeWheaties, with the first being held on August 26."
