It's MEA weekend across the state. And while some families use the extra days off from school to take a wonderful fall getaway, the majority of us are probably staying around here.

WalletHub recently did a study looking at the best and worst cities for "staycations" for those who want to stick around close to home during their time off. Using 17 different factors, the study took the top 100 cities by population and ranked which ones provided the most options to residents who decide to stick around for holidays and vacations. Minneapolis ranked #15 and St. Paul ranked at #44.

But what about our area? For those of you who are sticking around this long weekend, where do you plan to go and what do you plan to do? Perhaps a trip to Whitewater State Park? Or maybe Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo? Or a day trip to the Mall of America?

My family is thinking about taking a drive up Highway 61 this weekend, hitting Lark Toys and maybe the National Eagle Center in Wabasha. It's going to be a little on the cool side, from the way the weather forecast looks, so maybe we won't be outside much.

We'd love to hear from those of you sticking around this weekend. Share your area weekend plans with us! Or your favorite local spots to "staycation."
