This past Tues evening I had the distinct pleasure of attending my 28th ZZ Top ((LIVE)) performance. I have been a fan since 1973. I don't hesitate to talk about it here at Quick Country 96-5 for I feel ZZ Top cuts across genre' lines musically, and from the standpoint of being highly recognizable in popular culture.

ZZ Top is celebrating their 40th year as a band, (think about that for a second) and have collaborated with several country artists in the past.

I asked Billy Gibbons (aka: 'The Rev Willy G' ) during the post-concert Meet & Greet and Question & Answer session about this particular red Gibson SG custom-build guitar he busted-out for the final few songs. (see photo's below & above)
He explained that this guitar was his most recent guitar purchase, via the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, TN. (he did not elaborate on the price) These photos do not do justice to the axe....the prettiest SG I have ever seen, and heard! -steve

Brooks & Dunn, Willie Nelson, and Alan Jackson are among those who have paid tribute to the Texas trio ZZ Top in the past. [ Read About It Here!]
