Billy Gilman and his coach, Adam Levine, took the stage together during the The Voice Season 11 finale on Monday night (Dec. 12) to perform the Everly Brothers' "Bye Bye Love."

Readers can press play on the video above to see Gilman and Levine's rendition of "Bye Bye Love," which became the Everlys' first No. 1 hit in July of 1957. The song, written by husband-and-wife songwriting team Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, was the debut single from the Everly Brothers' self-titled freshman album; it had been pitched to — and rejected by — more than 30 artists before Don and Phil Everly agreed to record it.

"Bye Bye Love" landed at No. 2 on the pop charts and No. 1 on both the country and R&B charts, becoming one of the most successful singles of the year. Simon & Garfunkel included the song on 1970’s Bridge Over Troubled Water, and several other artists have recorded “Bye Bye Love," including Ray Charles, Roy Orbison, Connie Francis, Ray Stevens and George Harrison.

Gilman skyrocketed to stardom following the release of “One Voice,” his debut single, in 2000; he was 11 years old at the time, making him the youngest country artist to ever earn a Top 40 hit. Gilman’s album of the same name earned double-platinum status, but his following singles and albums did not achieve the same level of success. In November of 2014, Gilman revealed that he is gay — and called out the country music industry to support LGBTQ artists.

Gilman first landed on Team Adam during The Voice‘s blind auditions. Fans who would like to see Gilman win Season 11 of the TV singing competition can vote for him on the show’s official website and download his version of "Bye Bye Love” on iTunes before a champion is crowned on Tuesday night (Dec. 13).
