Blake Shelton just hit the big 4-0 over the weekend, and fans at Country Jam in Colorado surprised him with a birthday cake and an impromptu singing of 'Happy Birthday.' But he wasn't the only one to get a surprise...

Blake, of course, also surprised the crowd when he brought out girlfriend Gwen Stefani, who joined him for their duet, Go Ahead and Break My Heart. But Blake wasn't the only one to get a surprise on his 40th birthday.

When I turned 40 six years ago (sheesh! I'm old!), a group of friends lured me off my couch and down to a local bar, under the guise of watching the Packer game. (This was, of course, back when I lived in Wisconsin.) Now usually, you don't have to ask me twice to head out for some burgers and a beer or two while watching the game.

But the night before, I'd gotten together with some other friends and had enjoyed a few drinks. Several drinks. Okay, many, you might say. So many, in fact, that I didn't feel much like getting off the couch at all the next day-- and certainly not for heading back out to the bar!

But, I did finally give in-- and that picture was taken right when I noticed the whole place was filled with friends who'd stopped by to take part in the 40th birthday surprise party-- one I almost didn't end up attending!

Has anyone ever put on a surprise party for you on one of your birthdays?
