Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department released a statement Monday afternoon indicating the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has tentatively identified the body recovered from a rural Rochester pond Sunday evening as 21-year-old William “Harry” Hempy.His body was discovered by a group of fishermen around 7 PM in a pond at a former gravel pit off East River Road, about a mile north of Foster Arend Park.

Hempy was a student at the University of Illinois and was home in Rochester for spring break when he was reported missing on March 25th.

Rochester Police previously conducted an intensive search for Hempy in the area where the signal from his cell phone was last detected near Essex Park, which is less than a half mile from the pond where his body was recovered.

The results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death are pending, but the Sheriff’s Department says foul play is not suspected.
