Boost Your Immune System With These 4 Foods
I've been bedridden the past few days, thanks to the flu! While there were few foods that I actually could eat, I tried to sneak these in to boost my immune system.
- 1
Yogurt!
Loaded with probiotics, and easy to eat, yogurt is a no brainer. A meta-analysis published in the Korean Journal of Family Medicine found that the disease-fighting probiotics in yogurt help to prevent your worst cold and flu symptoms.
- 2
Salmon
Not going to lie, I didn't eat salmon, but I wish I would have tried. “Salmon is like nature’s advil. It provides the body with tons of immune-boosting omega-3s, protein, vitamin E, and calcium” this according to Lisa Moskovitz, R.D., founder of the New York Nutrition Group. She recommends swapping out chicken dishes for baked wild salmon two to three times a week throughout flu season.
- 3
Eggs
Eggs are full of iron and vitamin A, which help with immune function.
- 4
Peanut Butter
Peanut butter is packed with vitamin E and flu-fighting antioxidants! I need to go grab a spoon full right now!
