Cannon Falls Man Dies in Snowmobile Accident

A Cannon Falls man has died in an apparent snowmobiling accident in Northeastern Minnesota.

According to law enforcement officials, 51-year-old Richard Schaefer was found in the woods outside the town of Orr, located about two hours north of Duluth, near Pelican Lake, in St. Louis County.

Some of his snowmobiling companions discovered him laying unresponsive along the Arrowhead Trail around 7:30 Thursday evening. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident is currently under investigation. More information on the incident will be released as it is gathered.
