Earlier this year, the Rochester City Council added two more parks to the list where alcohol is now banned without a special-use permit. But that doesn't mean Rochester's Church Softball League won't be able to crack open a frosty beverage after the games, however.

According to this KTTC story, organizers of Rochester's Church Softball Leagues regularly play their games at Slatterly Park in southeast Rochester, and members would often have an adult beverage or two after the games. However, after Slatterly and Kutzky Park were added to Rochester's 'No Alcohol Allowed' list earlier this year (along with Foster Arend, Mayo and Central Parks), that left organizers feeling a little...dry.

Never fear, though. The story says that the group has filed a petition to allow alcohol at their games-- and it was approved Tuesday night the Parks and Recreation board meeting. Yay!

The story went on to say that the group will be responsible for keeping the park and fields clean-- meaning, toss those empty beer cans in the recycle bin, please!-- and that Parks and Rec will have staff on-site to make sure things go smoothly. The story also noted the group has previously had adult beverages at their games, and there were never any problems.

It's good to see prohibiting alcohol at Slatterly and Kutzky Parks, which was done after complaints by local neighborhoods, isn't also going to prohibit the responsible use of adult beverages by reputable users of the parks. Looks like it's a win-win for everyone. Batter up-- and pass me a cold one, please!
