We've been enduring a pretty hot and humid summer here in southeast Minnesota and, if you're like me, you're looking forward to some crisp, cool fall weather. But I don't know if I'm quite ready to bust out the snow plows yet, like they just did in Colorado.

Now, having just driven through the region on I-70 earlier this summer, I know that Colorado, much like Minnesota, can get a lot of snow. Especially up in the mountains. But THIS story, courtesy of the Pueblo Chieftan, says that city crews in Colorado Springs recently busted out the snow plows -- in August, mind you.

But maybe not for the reason I was thinking. It seems that Colorado Springs, while located in Rockies where, yes, there is snow on some mountain tops, actually had to mobilize the city snow plows to clean up from... a big hail storm.

Yes, hail. They needed the plows to clean up all the hail! According to the story, "City spokeswoman Kim Melchor said she does not know how many plows were sent out, but crews are 'pretty busy' cleaning up the hail after Monday afternoon’s storm."

So, yes, they had to use snow plows... in August... in Colorado. But just not to clear snow. Although, those days -- both in Colorado and here in Minnesota -- can't be too far behind!
