Living here in Minnesota, it's always fun to get out and enjoy the variety of weather we get to experience, even in the winter. Which is why on Saturday, my wife and I, along with some friends, took part in a cool candlelight snowshoe hike on the Lost Creek Hiking Trail in Chatfield, and had a great time!

The candlelight hike, put on by the Bluff Country Hiking Club, was part of Chatfield's Chill Fest 2015, and took place Saturday night around 5:30. Club members did an incredible job setting up candles along the roughly 1-mile hike on the trail. They also shuttled us out to the start of the trail and picked us up again when we finished the hike. They even provided hot chocolate once we were back at the trailhead!

The weather Saturday night made for a great hike, too-- not too cold, but not too warm that you started to get overheated during the hike, either. Because we weren't sure just how much snow there would be on the trail (there ended up being plenty), we opted to forgo the snowshoes and just hike the trail in our boots. We had a great time!

Seeing that it was dark while we were out on the trail (and didn't get to fully appreciate the variety of different landscapes the trail encompasses), we can't wait to head back down and check out the entire length of the trail (which runs roughly 6 miles) during the daylight. Thanks again, Bluff Country Hiking Club-- you put on a great event!
