Corn on the Cob Days is this weekend in Plainview. There are many fun activities to do and free sweet corn on Sunday. I used to live in Plainview for many years. I was also a member of the Plainview Lions Club, who puts the festival on. As president of the club a couple times and co-chair of the festival for 14 years, you get a great feeling of pride when it came along.
Corn on the Cob Days has fun for the whole family. Tomorrow, see Lost Highway perform at the Plainview Liquor Store parking lot. That dance is put on by the Plainview Volunteer Fire Department.
There's a really wonderful event for the kids called "Funfest" that is sponsored by Peoples State Bank. I started this event years ago and it's great time for kids of all ages. There's a corn cob toss, running races and more. The Saturday street dance at Kim's Saloon.
Sunday, enjoy 'all you can eat' sweet corn' from 11am to 3pm on the side street by Wedgewood Park. A BIG thank you goes out to Lakeside Foods for donating the corn and to Plainview Milk Products for the butter. The corn is for all to enjoy, but not to take bags home. Seriously.
The grand parade is at 1:30 and there's a band at the Legion Parking lot after the parade. Vendors in the park and more, too! See the poster for more and have fun. - Alan
