Talk about being in the right place at the right time. Bluebird Cafe customers on Wednesday night (May 7) were in for a
surprise, when Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl gave an unannounced acoustic performance in the famed venue.
"My name’s Dave Grohl. I’m a drummer," he told the surprised audience (quote via CMT). Grohl performed for the intimate crowd for about an hour, singing some of his band’s biggest hits, including ‘Times Like These,’ ‘Big Me,’ ‘Skin and Bones’ and ‘Learn to Fly,’ all of which Grohl wrote.
This isn’t the rocker’s first time to visit Nashville. He recorded ‘The Grohl Sessions, Vol. 1′ with the Zac Brown Band at their Southern Ground Studios in Music City. Grohl also performed ‘Day for the Dead’ with the band at the
2013 CMA Awards. "The heart and soul of this city is in the music and the musicians," Grohl noted of his appearance. "It is an honor to be here."
Grohl’s performance at the Bluebird Cafe only adds to the popularity of the songwriter’s venue even more. The 90-seat listening room is also the setting for much of the hit ABC drama, ‘Nashville,’ starring Hayden Panettiere and
Connie Britton. ‘The Grohl Sessions, Vol. 1′ will be available as a CD and DVD package on May 19 at Walmart, Best Buy, the Zac Brown band’s online store and at all concerts. Purchase the album here.
