Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A federal judge has dismissed a discrimination lawsuit against the Rochester School District.

In a ruling handed down Tuesday, U.S. District Court Judge David Doty dismissed all claims against the district and former Assistant Superintendent Brenda Lewis. Regina Seabrook filed the lawsuit last year, claiming she was the victim of racial and sexual discrimination, along with a hostile and abusive work environment, sexual harassment, and retaliation.

The case was filed after Seabrook lost her job as the coordinator of the school district’s Student and Family Engagement Program, which was a position that later was eliminated as part of a budget-cutting process.

Rochester Public Schools Superintendent Michael Munoz issued a statement Wednesday afternoon concerning the judge’s ruling, “From the outset of Ms. Seabrook’s lawsuit, the District contended Ms. Seabrook’s claims were frivolous. The District felt very confident that Ms. Seabrook’s claims would be dismissed at an early stage in the litigation. The District is pleased with Judge Doty’s decision and is hopeful the parties will be able to move on from this dispute.”

The judge dismissed the case with prejudice, which means Seabrook cannot bring any new legal actions against the school district based on the same claims.
