Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester police are reporting an assault case that happened in the downtown early Wednesday that may be related to politics.

A spokesman says two friends were walking around having fun, one wearing a Hillary Clinton mask and the other a Donald Trump mask.The spokesman says some people were taking their pictures when a man walked up and punched the person wearing the Trump mask in the face. The 23-year-old victim wasn’t hurt but his glasses were broken.

Police located the suspect a few blocks away. Cited for 5th degree assault and damage to property was 35-year-old Gabriel Majak of Rochester.

The incident happened on the corner of 1st Ave and 3rd St. SW just after midnight.
