My wife and I ran a 5K called the 'Bacon Chase' last year in Minneapolis, where, after you completed the race, you were treated to as much bacon as you could eat. They even handed out some bacon bits along the route. It was kind of fun (before they ran out of bacon, that is.) But did you know there was something similar-- with beer?

I know I didn't. But there is, and it's called the Beer Mile. And a guy right here in Minnesota is one of the best in the country at the running the Beer Mile. It works like this: You run a quarter mile, then chug a beer, then run another quarter mile, and chug a beer, etc. You continue until you've run a full mile-- and, of course, chugged four beers.

BringMeTheNews has a story on Minnesota's own Brian Anderson of Bloomington, who ran a Beer Mile "in a total time of 5 minutes and 14.7 seconds, Runner’s World reports – just six seconds behind the winner of the Beer Mile World Classic held in San Francisco over the weekend."

That's pretty good! I can barely run a mile in under 7 and a half minutes-- and that's without the beer. Now, while I like my beer, and I also like heading out on a run (now THERE'S something I thought I'd never say), I'm not sure I want to combine them. Especially since tossing one's cookies after slamming a beer while running the Beer Mile is grounds for disqualification from the race. Doesn't sound too fun to me. Does it appeal to you?

Here's more of Brian running his Beer Mile...
