When any type of weather hits the east coast, all the national media seems to make a big deal about it-- even if it's not all that severe. But even by our used-to-winter Minnesota standards, they got a lot of snow out there last weekend.

According to BringMeTheNews, the storm the Weather Channel named "Jonas" did dump a lot of snow our eastern seaboard.  "WABC says New York’s official measurement of 26.8 inches fell just short of making it the city’s biggest storm on record. But the station says Staten Island reported 31 inches."

Yeah, that's a lot of snow. Remember the freak snow storm we had back on May 2 of 2013? That only dumped 15 inches of snow on us-- and we thought that was a lot. Of course, the other big snow storm you might remember here in Minnesota also took place outside of winter-- the big Halloween snowstorm of 1991.

The story goes on to say, "By comparison, Minnesota’s Halloween blizzard of 1991 dropped 28 inches on the Twin Cities and 37 in Duluth, the DNR says."

So, yeah, nearly 27 inches of snow IS a lot, no matter if it's here in Minnesota or in New York City. The only difference seems to be that we're used to snow-- and are equipped with the proper tools to remove it. Unlike some of these New Yorkers, who used pretty much whatever they could find to try to dig out their cars.

Check out this Facebook video from Minnesota native Kaylar Barry, showing how some New Yorkers struggled to dig their cars out from all that snow...

I guess New Yorkers are not as prepared for snow as we are in Minnesota! Check out what Vanessa, Joe, and I saw from our window...
