WELCOME to the Heritage House Victorian Museum!
A mere two block walk north of the Mayo Clinic in downtown Rochester, Minnesota brings visitors to Heritage House Victorian Museum and a trip to another century. This Italianate home, built in 1875 for Rochester merchants, was the jewel of what then was called “Lower town.”
In 1883, the home miraculously survived the powerful tornado which laid waste to the greater part of the city. A century later it was threatened once again.
The house was empty and in the very shadow of a wrecking ball when it was saved by the passionate Louise Hill. In 1972, it was relocated to its current place of honor in Central Park. Authentically restored and decorated with period Victorian antiques, the home is dedicated to the preservation of Rochester’s early heritage.
Trained docents lead the tours during the months of June, July and August.
