If you're a big fan of autumn and want to get out and take in some of Minnesota's famous fall colors, you'll be in luck throughout the next several days.

According to the Minnesota DNR Facebook page, as of Tuesday, October 11th, the leaves in many parts of Minnesota are nearing their peak fall colors right now. Of course, when you look at the map, those areas are in the northern parts of the state--  pretty much from the Twin Cities north.

For instance, if you took a drive up I-35 to Highway-61 north of Duluth along the North Shore, fall leaf colors in that region are at their peak right now-- with between 75 and 100% fall color being reported. (And is there a more scenic drive than Highway-61 as it meanders along Lake Superior?)

Here in southeast Minnesota, given that we're further south, we have a few more days left before we hit peak fall color. The maps shows that in our neck of the woods, we're only nearing 25% to 50%, and I'd say that here in Rochester, it's closer to the 25% than it is the 50%.

Last year, my wife and I headed up to Frontenac State Park during this weekend-- MEA Weekend in Minnesota-- and saw some tremendous fall colors. So, if you're looking to check them out (and not have to head too far north), this weekend might be just the time to do it! Take a look...
