Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - For the second time in less than a week, a rural Olmsted County home has been wiped out by a fire.

Firefighters were called to a home at 8122 40th Ave NE around 1:00 AM Monday and arrived to find it engulfed.

The three occupants - 69-year-old Roy, 64-year-old Debra, and 34-year-old Christopher Haney - were able to escape without injury.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says the fire apparently began in the home’s basement utility room where the furnace was located. The house and attached garage were destroyed. There was no damage estimate. Firefighters from Elgin, Oronoco, Plainview, and Rochester were called to the scene.

The other fire wiped out a home about 5 miles away last Thursday.
