Being an avid biker, I'm usually counting down the days each Spring until I can get out the bike out and hit the trails. And as luck would have it, today was that day.

Some years when it was an exceptionally warm Spring, like back in 2012, I was able to be out riding on St. Patrick's Day. With our cold, wet Springs the past two years, though, I wasn't able to get out until May. This year, though? Done!

Even though the temperature at our house was hovering around 30 degrees, I bravely donned my cold weather gear and headed out on the Cascade Lake trail earlier this morning. It was a lovely morning to be outside getting some exercise, with a bright, sunny sky and not too much wind. (You always notice the wind when you're out on the bike-- especially here in southeastern Minnesota.) And because I was pretty much covered up, it really wasn't even that cold. Except for my toes, that is. THEY were kind of cold.

We're very fortunate to have the great trail system we do here in Rochester, so I'm glad I was able to kick-off the 2015 cycling season while it was still March. Seeing as it first snowed in here in early November, it was a long winter season of having to stay indoors. It's shaping up to be a great Spring!
