It ended mercifully yesterday when they lost-- again--  to the Cincinnati Reds. My home-state team, the Milwaukee Brewers, were knocked out of MLB playoff contention for the third year in a row. And while Wisconsin baseball fans like me are used to not making the playoffs, this year seemed like it might turn out a little differently, considering the Crew was in first place in the NL Central from April 5th through August 31-- that's 150 days-- before collapsing down the stretch to finish out of the playoffs in third behind Pittsburgh and St. Louis.

It seems the old adage I'd heard growing up back in Wisconsin is still true: The Brewers are around only to occupy one's time in the spring and summer before the Packers start playing again in the fall. (Not that the Pack is looking like a contender at this point, either....)
