Does this happen to you? (And, yes, I realize that if this is the biggest problem in my life right now, things can't really be too bad. And they're not.) However, it's still REALLY annoying when the light bulb on the garage door opener doesn't work when it's supposed to. Hello? It's a LIGHT BULB, for crying out loud-- technology that's been around since 1879, and we can't make one that successfully works when the garage door opener is in use?!?

This is especially annoying now that it's getting dark much earlier at night. You come home, press the remote control and the door opens. But the bulb doesn't go on. It's not a burned out bulb, as I just replaced it a few weeks ago. And, it DOES finally light up, (once the door is either opening or closing) if you walk over to the opener (in the dark) and jiggle the bulb in the socket. However, that kind of defeats the purpose of the light in the first place-- that being to light up the garage, so you can see where you're walking.

I've had this phenomenon happen on a couple different garage door openers I've owned throughout the years. And while it's not a big issue, in the grand scheme of things, it's still a pain in the hinder. Is it really too much to ask that someone engineer a basic light bulb socket that will work-- repeatedly-- with your garage door opener?!?  As my wife said, ours works about 25% of the time.  Come on, man!  (Okay, rant over. Back to the bigger issues of the day...)
