Giving back to our veterans has always been a common virtue across country music. Granger Smith is one artist who actively honors our soldiers, and he's continuing that mission with the 5th annual Boot Walk.

For four years, Smith has walked 100 miles from south Austin, Texas to Fort Hood to raise money for veterans and their families through the Boot Walk. In a Facebook video posted on Tuesday (Nov. 22), the "If the Boot Fits" singer reveals a new element to his campaign.

"Our military is very near and dear to my heart," he says. "I feel like I get to live out my dream and play music because of freedom ensured by men and women that have sacrificed everything and have volunteered for that job for people like me."

Smith will continue this tradition in 2016, and he's adding a special tribute into the mix. While completing the 100-mile trek over the course of five days -- 20 miles each day -- he will feature one fallen solider each day. He's calling on fans to submit the names of people they've known who are fallen soldiers and deserve recognition for their sacrifice. "Let's let their stories be heard," Smith says.

The Boot Walk has been a tradition for the country star since 2011, walking 400 miles in honor of those who have fought in the U.S. Armed Forces. He joined Luke Bryan on his eighth annual Farm Tour in October of 2016 alongside Chris Janson, and was recently announced as a nominee for the 2017 CRS New Faces of Country Music, in addition to other promising stars including Maren Morris, Michael RayLauren Alaina and more.
