Has the Flu Season Peaked in Minnesota?
It appears the worst of the flu season in Minnesota could be behind us.
The latest influenza activity update from the Minnesota Department of Health shows the overall rating of flu activity has been downgraded from widespread to regional.
While the number of schools reporting probable outbreaks rose slightly to 11, the number of flu-related hospitalizations and outbreaks reported by nursing homes and other long-term care facilities continued to drop. There were also continued declines in the percentage of people visiting clinics with flu-like symptoms and positive results from specimens tested for influenza.
If the trend continues, the data collected by the health department indicates the flu season likely peaked in late December.
