Last weekend, the Ashley for the Arts festival took place over in Arcadia, Wisconsin. Over the weekend, several big name acts were performing, including Kellie Pickler and LOCASH on Friday night. I was planning on heading over to cover the concerts for Quick Country on Friday night, but Mother Nature had other plans.

Three adults and four kids loaded up the car and headed out of Rochester around 4 p.m. in the pouring rain. Driving for more than 30 minutes, the rain never stopped. At times, it was a torrential downpour. As we pulled into St. Charles, we decided as a group to go with 'Plan B' and stop for a while at my in-laws to wait out the storm.

Unfortunately, the rain never really stopped. I kept looking at the weather forecast on my phone and checking the Ashley for the Arts website to see if there were delays or cancellations because of the weather. Eventually, the idea of driving another hour to get to Arcadia, sitting in the rain for four hours and then driving an hour and half back to Rochester pretty much lost its appeal.

It was the first time I can remember that I was set to go to a music festival or concert and backed out. It made me wonder if any of you have ever found yourself in a similar situation? Perhaps weather kept you back? Or an illness wouldn't allow you to go to a show? Or maybe you've got an even better story? We'd love to know if this has ever happened to you. Or, better yet, we'd love to hear your story about it!

And speaking of music festivals, our 2016 Harvest Jam is coming up on Saturday, September 10 at the Olmsted Country Fairgrounds, featuring Rodney Atkins, live on our American Heroes Stage powered by Home Solutions Midwest, Albert Lea; Making Homes New Again; and First Alliance Credit Union. All for One…
