I was driving home the other day along 11th Avenue in northwest Rochester, when I noticed this multi-colored cross walk. Have you seen it?

I noticed the first multi-colored crosswalk in the Kutzky Park neighborhood along 11th Avenue, a block before you cross the Cascade Creek bridge. As I got closer, I noticed the crosswalk along 2nd Street northwest at the 11th Avenue intersection was also painted with the same, festive colors.

Now, outside of the fact that they're lovely colors, I don't know much more about them or why the crosswalks have been painted those colors.  I do know that the rainbow color scheme is generally associated with the LGBT movement, so I'm guessing that might be what these crosswalks are supporting.

But, seeing as I don't know who painted them (come to think of it, I don't even know if it's paint-- it almost looks like it could be chalk), and I couldn't find anything about them online, I'm not sure exactly what their motivation was.

I think they're kind of cool, though. Have you seen them? What do you think? Would you like to see more crosswalks like this here in Rochester?
