Rochester, MN (KROC AM News)  -  A Hayfield man is facing numerous charges after police say he crashed a car in a suburban Rochester neighborhood, tried stealing two other vehicles and attempted to break into a home before he was caught - and most of this happened before sunrise Monday.

Police were first contacted around 6 a.m. Monday by a homeowner who lives on River Bluffs Lane NW, which is close to the 75th Street roundabout. The caller saw a car crash into some nearby woods and when he went outside, spotted a strange man in his garage. The man ran off but was eventually caught by police.

It was later learned the car that he had crashed was stolen earlier several miles away. Police also determined the man - identified as 24 year old Shane Anderson -  had tried breaking into a residence near where he crashed the car.
