Yes, MnDOT has been reminding motorists for awhile now that one of the main east/west interstate highways through the state capitol will be shut down, starting this Friday at 10pm.

According to a story on TwinCities.com, "Both directions of I-94, from Minnesota 280 to Interstate 35E will close at 10 p.m. Friday for the relocation of power lines. MnDOT says all lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday. Drivers will need to follow posted detours on Minnesota 280, Minnesota 36, and I-35E to get around the closure."

There could possible impact your travel, as there are a couple of events that might have you venture to the Cities this weekend, from the Disney 'Frozen On Ice' show at Target Center, to Neil Diamond at the Xcel Energy Center Sunday, and more-- and it's never any fun to find out at the last minute that your preferred route might be closed! (Luckily, most traffic apps -- like Google Maps -- usually reflect the current closures, but it's always a good idea to be prepared, too.)
