People.com had a story about a terminally ill boy in Colorado who put together a touching 5-minute video, sharing his story and asking the public to help his mother pay for his next surgery.

The boy was born deaf, missing an ear, and suffering from a rare genetic disease called Goldenhar syndrome that causes facial deformities.

The boy uses note cards to tell the story in the video, and says he wants to raise $4,000 to help pay for the upcoming surgery to fix his palate because “insurance doesn’t cover everything.”

The boy says he was nervous about doing the video because he’s been bullied and made fun of a lot, but says he’s being brave to make the video.
