Rochester, MN ( KROC AM News) - Southeast Minnesota was spared the heavy snow that fell in other parts of the state Tuesday morning where totals in central counties were in the 3 - 6 inch range.

But freezing drizzle created slick driving conditions across southeast Minnesota  and there were numerous spinouts and other traffic mishaps.

A crash involving a semi-truck and minivan on I-35 in Owatonna around 9 a.m. sent two people to St. Mary’s.The driver of the car was a 37 year old man from Austin. The State Patrol says he suffered serious injuries. A 17 year old female in the vehicle was treated for non-life threatening injuries.The driver of the truck was not hurt.

The Patrol says the driver of the van was passing the truck when he lost control and was hit broadside.The northbound lanes of the interstate were closed for about two hours as a result of the wreck.
