If your travels take you along a certain street in northwest Rochester, be ready to put your foot on the break, as the speed limit was just reduced.

Specifically, I'm talking about 19th Street in northwest Rochester, and the stretch of road that runs right in front of Paws and Claws Humane Society, the Rochester Athletic Club and Lourdes High School.

As the signs now say, the speed limit is 30 miles per hour. However, as recently as earlier this year, it had been 40 miles per hour. I took the bottom picture earlier this week that shows the new posted limit, along with the Rochester police radar sign that tells you how fast you're going.

I believe the change was in response to a horrible traffic accident last year at the Valleyhigh Drive intersection with 19th Street that claimed the life a Rochester woman. (You can read more about it HERE).

And, because your insurance rates can go up substantially if you get a speeding ticket here in Minnesota (which I posted about HERE), I pass along this information here as a public service.

Hopefully, we can all slow down-- and stay safe out there on 19th Street!
