The history of Puerto Rico is intriguing and beautiful!  We made a stop at Castillo de San Critobal, aka the fort.  It was built by Spain to protect against land based attacks on San Juan.  It took nearly 200 years to build it!  When it was finished in 1783, it covered about 27 acres of land and basically wrapped around the city of San Juan.  You can actually see bullet powder on the cement, and stand where soldiers stood watch.

My favorite thing about the fort was the lighthouse.  My late grandma had an obsession for lighthouses, so every time I see one, I feel like she's with me.
