With temps in the mid to upper 70's and lots of sunshine, this past weekend was one of those fabulous stretches of weather that makes us all glad we live here in southeast Minnesota.

Seeing as it was so nice pretty much all three days, we did the usual spring-type activities: We fired up the grill all three days, we took a nearly 3-mile long hike, we cleaned up the flower beds around the house, and got the bikes ready for another season of riding-- and got in the first ride of the season, too.

Another great thing about living here in Rochester, is the well-developed trail system that snakes its way through the Med City. We live near the Cascade Lake Trail, between Highway-14 northwest and 2nd St. southwest, which makes for a great setting for a run, hike or nice ride on the mountain bike.

We hit the trail Sunday for a nearly 3-mile hike around the lake before heading back home to enjoy a beverage (or two) on the deck while we fired up the grill. Then, I was able to sneak in a quick 10-mile ride Monday morning before heading into the station.

The Cascade Lake Trail is great because it's not too far from the house, is a scenic setting in which to walk, ride or run, and is mainly flat. I especially enjoy that last part. It also will link up with many of the other trails that can take you through pretty much any part of Rochester, from downtown, to Silver Lake, southwest along the Zumbro River and more. You can check out a complete list of all of the city of Rochester's many parks and recreational trails HERE.

Did you get out and enjoy the weekend's fantastic weather?
