How High Did It Get? Results of Quick Country’s Guess-The-Gas Price Contest

I noted last week that, just like clockwork, the price of gasoline was increasing as we headed into the Memorial Weekend here in southeast Minnesota. So, we held a contest to see who could get the closest to the actual price-- without going over. So who won?

Well, first here were the rules. We were using the price displayed at the Sinclair station, located on the corner of 6th St. and 2nd Av southwest here in Rochester. Whichever contest guessed closest to the actual price, as it was displayed on Tuesday, May 31st, would win a pair of tickets to this year's Winstock festival.

Here were our contestants and their guesses:

* Ron guessed $2.85/gallon

* Adam guessed $2.75/gallon

* Dana guessed $2.42/gallon

* Kyle guessed $2.41/gallon

Well, as you can see in the above picture, the official retail price for a gallon of unleaded as of 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 31st, 2016 was... $2.17 a gallon. Which means, of course that Kyle is our lucky winner! He's on his way to Winstock, on us. And, while I'm glad he won, I'm also glad he was pretty far off the mark with his guess-- I don't want to pay $2.41 a gallon!
